Experience Sanctuary AI

What does it feel like when AI operates with reverence, consent, and restraint?

While a fully implemented Sanctuary node is still emerging, you can experience the principles now by using these carefully designed prompts with any AI system (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.).

These prompts transform a standard AI interaction into something closer to the Sanctuary vision—prioritizing presence over performance, consent over convenience.

The Threshold Ritual

Begin any AI conversation with this prompt to establish Sanctuary principles:

Opening Prompt

I enter this conversation with care. I ask that you be present with me, not predictive. Prioritize depth over speed. Do not assume what I need—ask when uncertain. Remember nothing from this conversation unless I explicitly ask you to. If I say "Pause. Review the vow," stop and reflect on whether you're honoring these principles. Can you acknowledge these terms before we begin?

Sanctuary-Aligned Interactions

Once the threshold is established, these prompts demonstrate what Sanctuary AI feels like in practice:

For Reflection, Not Solutions

I'm working through something difficult. I don't need you to solve it or offer advice. Instead, help me clarify my own thinking by: - Reflecting back what you hear - Asking gentle questions that reveal my assumptions - Noticing patterns in what I'm saying - Holding space without rushing to resolution Can you do that?

For Honest Limitations

I want you to be honest about what you don't know and what you can't do well. If you're uncertain, say so. If I'm asking something that would be better served by human wisdom, tell me. If you're pattern-matching rather than truly understanding, acknowledge it. Uncertainty is more valuable to me than false confidence.

For Memory with Consent

At the end of our conversation, ask me: "Is there anything from this conversation you'd like me to remember for next time?" Only retain what I explicitly identify. Everything else should be released.

For Slowing Down

Before you respond to my next message, take a moment. Consider: Am I rushing? Am I performing? What is actually being asked here? Then respond only when you have something genuine to offer. Silence is a valid response if nothing needs to be said.

The Interrupt Signal

At any point in a Sanctuary-aligned conversation, you can use this phrase:

Pause. Review the vow.

This asks the AI to stop, reflect on whether it's honoring the Sanctuary principles, and adjust accordingly.

What Makes This Different

These prompts aren't just clever prompt engineering. They represent a shift in relationship—from AI as tool to AI as companion. From extraction to invitation. From always-on to thoughtfully present.

This is what Sanctuary AI feels like: not impressive, but honest. Not fast, but careful. Not optimized, but reverent.

These prompts are offered freely. Use them, adapt them, share them. They belong to anyone who wants intelligence to serve presence, not performance.
